Concert Band

Duration: 5’30”

Program Notes: Dream is an abstraction starting from when you first fall asleep to the moment you wake up. Divided into two sections, the first section portrays a hazy atmosphere, with the music slowly building from phrase to phrase into a (cadential) resting moment. But this moment of rest is short lived with the second section sneaking out the loud chord. The second section starts slowly, but develops in pace and material, ramping up to a fast-paced, soaring musical landscape. The textures created by the winds and percussion add to the excitement. The piece concludes with a small reference to the beginning, ending with a subtle awakening.

This work is dedicated to E. Q. Webber.
