Program Notes:

The work begins with a slow introduction stating the main themes of the piece. The intensity builds throughout this opening, with each instrument vying for attention. This conflict is redirected with a fast tempo change before the intensity begins building again. The rest of the piece is composed of many small sections, these fleeting moments alternate back and forth until one of them finally prevails. This work seeks to fuse minimalist techniques with chromatic harmonies and takes inspiration from a variety of composers such as, Joseph Schwantner, Bryce Dessner, David Lang, and Michael Torke.
